What is clinical hypnotherapy?

Clinical hypnotherapy is a combination of hypnosis and psychological treatment. You’ll get into a relaxed and comfortable state, where I’ll communicate with your unconscious mind and make suggestions relevant to your symptoms. You’ll be fully in control and aware of everything that’s going on the whole time.


What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is NOT a therapy, it is a vehicle for delivering a useful message, or therapy to the mind.

Hypnosis allows someone to take onboard suggestions at an unconscious level, where it’s absorbed with focused attention. Under hypnosis is also called being in ‘trance state’.

Clinical hypnotherapy is the most therapeutic tool that exists today.


What is it like to be in trance?

Many people think of being in trance like being asleep. That’s actually not the case. Being in trance is actually a natural state of mind that many of us encounter in everyday life. If you’ve ever been engrossed in a book, movie, or performance, then you have likely experienced the trance state.

 The only thing that distinguishes a naturally occurring trance state from the hypnotic trance state is that hypnotherapists induce the latter and are able to control the trance state, to create understanding and healing.

While in a trance you are aware and in control of your actions and what you say the whole time.


What can hypnotherapy treat?

A wide variety of mental health issues such as low self-esteem and lack of confidence, procrastination, anxiety, social anxiety, pain management, phobias, addictions, weight management, PTSD, Insomnia, postnatal depression.


What is strategic psychotherapy?

Strategic psychotherapy is a brief therapy which is solution-focused and outcome-based.

It is concerned with HOW we do what we do and not WHY. By focusing on the how, we are able to change. The treatment works through rapid interviewing when I will quickly understand what the problem is and how to treat it.


What is NLP?

It breaks down like this:

- Neuro: Nervous system (such as touch, smell and sight)

- Linguistique: How do you talk to yourself

- Programming: The auto-pilot we run at an unconscious level

NLP is thoughts and behaviour programming and can be applied to every aspect of your life.


How many sessions are recommended?

Generally, it is recommended to have between 6-8 sessions in total, but it can vary due to the individual. This will be determined in the first session.

The aim is for you to DO better in life, not to FEEL better. You will DO much better in your life after the first session and if you follow my instructions between each session after.


Can I have a health fund rebate?

Clinical hypnotherapy is not covered by Medicare. Several private health funds will provide refunds for a portion of your costs, depending on your coverage level.

Please contact your private health fund to check whether your coverage includes hypnotherapy.


Is online therapy as effective as face to face?

Yes, hypnotherapy via video-conferencing is as effective as a face-to-face session. The only difference is you can experience the session in the comfort of your own home. I’m based in Cronulla, Sydney.

You will just have to make sure you won’t be disturbed, that you will have a good internet connection and a head rest.

I will also use NLP to break the existing patterns and create new ones. All of it will be nicely wrapped up in comfortable and gentle hypnotherapy sessions, so your unconscious mind can take everything on board.
